In emergency medicine, every second counts. Long patient transport times and the inability to provide effective care due to inadequate equipment are challenges faced by both Ukrainian and Polish hospitals.

The EMERGENCY project, jointly implemented by hospitals in Lviv and Ostrołęka, aims to address these challenges by investigating and mitigating the negative impact of long patient transportation and outdated medical equipment on healthcare quality. The project will enhance access to fast, effective emergency medicine and modern healthcare in both hospitals.

As part of this initiative, the infrastructure of the Mazovian Specialist Hospital in Ostrołęka will be modernized, including the construction of a helicopter landing site. In Lviv, the vascular surgery department’s infrastructure will be upgraded, and an angiograph will be purchased. This will enable the diagnosis and treatment of various cardiovascular diseases, particularly stroke.

Joint meetings, exchanges of best practices, workshops, and training sessions in cardiology, vascular surgery, and emergency medicine will contribute to the development and implementation of innovative procedures. These procedures will be designed by a joint working team composed of specialists from both hospitals.

Thanks to this project, both hospitals will be able to provide enhanced healthcare services to people in their regions, ensuring faster and more effective emergency care. Ultimately, this will lead to saving more lives and improving overall health outcomes.
