Every parent wishes for their child to be happy and healthy. Children’s health should be a priority in every developed society. However, many hospitals in the cross-border area of Ukraine and Poland suffer from a shortage of equipment and qualified medical staff. The war in Ukraine has increased the demand for qualified health services in these regions due to the significant inflow of refugees. Children are experiencing the effects of war on an equal footing with adults, suffering from complex injuries and psychological trauma.

Children’s hospitals in Bialystok and Mukachevo have decided to jointly implement the Future4Kids project, aimed at improving the quality of medical services provided in both facilities, with a focus on diagnostics, treatment, and IT solutions for maintaining electronic health records (EHR). Both hospitals will purchase medical and IT equipment. Joint activities to improve the competence of medical staff are planned, including joint training sessions for medical and IT staff as well as study visits.

Children and adolescents from border areas will gain access to high-quality medical care, including psychological care, in both hospitals. Thanks to modern equipment and training, the quality of medical services will be enhanced. Additionally, young patients will have access to EHR from anywhere in the world. The developed solutions will be consulted with the Ministries of Health in Poland and Ukraine. If approved, they will be available for use by all medical facilities in both countries.

The cooperation established between the hospitals during the project will lay the groundwork for joint medical consultations in the long-term perspective.
