The importance of quality cancer diagnostics, a crucial aspect of oncological treatment is emphasized by the Mazovian and Lviv regional medical institutions, as cancer is the second most common cause of death. Specialised body scanning systems enable doctors to detect cancer, establish detailed research protocols, and devise precise treatment plan for patients.

As a result of the joint Polish-Ukrainian project, the Mazovian Regional Hospital in Siedlce (PL) will modernize the premises of the Imaging Diagnostics Department. This modernisation includes relocating a second scanner for computed tomography (CT) from an external container to its intended location within the building, purchasing and implementing new IT equipment, setting up stations for preparing descriptions of X-ray, CT and MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) examinations, and integrating modern software for teleradiology, imaging results management and AI- assisted analysis. In turn, the Lviv Regional Clinical Diagnostic Center (UA) will replace an outdated MRI machine, following necessary adaptation work in the laboratory premises. Additionally, the center will acquire and implement equipment to create a digital archive of medical images and establish a call center for patient appointments.

The project will also include specialized training for the staff of both partners, i.e. doctors, nurses and radiology technicians.

These improvements will significantly enhance access to specialized diagnostic imaging among the residents of the Polish-Ukrainian borderland, especially the Siedlce sub-region and Lviv region. The solutions for the organization and description of CT and MRI examinations of both hospitals will be among the unique ones in the entire Polish-Ukrainian borderland.
