Two partnering regions, Lublin and Uzhhorod, are facing challenges in modern diagnostic and therapeutic methods for cardiovascular diseases and conditions requiring neurosurgical treatment, particularly for war victims. These diseases can manifest in various forms and affect both the body and the psyche. Experiencing war or other traumatic events can lead to chronic stress and mental disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression. These emotional states can increase the risk of heart diseases by impacting the cardiovascular system.

The CROSSDIAM project aims to address these issues by expanding the treatment capacity for cardiovascular diseases and conditions requiring neurosurgical intervention, especially for war victims. Hospitals in Lublin and Uzhhorod will purchase angiography imaging systems for hybrid cardiovascular operations. Additionally, the Ukrainian partner will acquire new equipment for the clinic’s diagnostic laboratory. Specialized training programs for medical staff, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of warfare injuries, cardiovascular diseases, and neurosurgical conditions, will enhance their expertise in these fields. Another component of the project includes hosting two medical conferences, which will promote professional cross-border interaction between medical professionals in Poland and Ukraine through telemedicine tools, the exchange of best practices, knowledge transfer, and partnership between the hospitals.

The acquisition of new equipment and the improved competencies of doctors will ensure better medical services of European standards for the residents of Lublin and Uzhhorod. Diagnoses will be conducted more quickly, and treatments will be more technologically advanced, reducing disparities in living standards on both sides of the Polish-Ukrainian border.
