Prevention, diagnosis and treatment of digestive system diseases (DGT) one of the most common causes of death among residents of the Podlaskie and Lviv regions are primary focus of the project partners. This issue is particularly significant for a wide target audience, especially individuals aged 45 and older.

The main objective of the project is to minimise gaps in medical care for patients struggling with gastrointestinal diseases, including cancer. The partners –Hospital of the Ministry of Interior and Administration in Białystok (PL) and the hospital in Mostyska (UA) – will upgrade their endoscopy laboratories. They will purchase the necessary modern medical equipment and apparatus used at the stage of diagnosis and treatment of patients over the age of 45 with or suspected gastrointestinal diseases. The project will use artificial intelligence solutions in the diagnosis and treatment process. Telemedicine tools will facilitate remote communication with patients and enable monitoring and diagnosis through a dedicated system. This will ensure effective medical consultations and the exchange of experience and knowledge between Polish and Ukrainian medical staff. Medical professionals’ knowledge of gastrointestinal diseases will be enhanced through two-day specialist training sessions in Białystok and Lviv. Additionally border residents will be educated about DGT diseases through public conferences and a trilingual platform featuring an e-learning module.

The new equipment will increase access to medical services in the region. Enhancing the competence of medical staff will improve the quality of medical services provided in the areas covered by the project.
