The inadequate water and sewage infrastructure in the border area of Tyczyn (PL) and Pustomyty (UA) negatively affect the environmental, social, and economic conditions of the region. The limited availability of water supply and sewerage services diminishes the quality of life for residents. Additionally, there is an increased risk of gastrointestinal diseases is due to the consumption of water with uncertain quality, particularly from a domestic sources such as wells. The  prevalence of many domestic septic tanks further complicates the situation by contaminating groundwater through leaks.

The common goal of the GoodWater project is to enhance residents’ quality of  life and adapt Tyczyn and Pustomyty to changing climate conditions by improving access to  high-quality water and protecting the natural environment from pollution. The partners aim to achieve these objectives through the construction and reconstruction of the water supply and sewage systems in both communities. Each partner brings  different experiences, which will be shared during joint training sessions. The Ukrainian partner will gain the insight into modern solutions and technologies used in water and sewage systems, while the Polish partner will learn how to respond more effectively in times of crisis.. Additionally, an educational web portal will be established through this project featuring materials that highlight the importance and benefits of new water and sewage  infrastructure investments, information on water safety, conservation techniques, and appropriate usage of the sewage system.
