Cancer is one of the biggest health challenges, both in Poland and Ukraine. To combat it, we need to continuously improve treatment standards and methods, modernise healthcare facilities, and better organise operations. Thanks to EU funding, we will gain another tool in this fight.

The main objective of the project is to develop cross-border cooperation between hospitals on the Polish-Ukrainian border in the early detection and control of cancer. Cooperation between the Białystok and Lviv oncology centres is possible through joint efforts in the areas of prevention, early diagnosis, and cancer treatment. A key task of the project is the purchase of specialised equipment: spectral computed tomography for the Ukrainian side and endoscopic equipment for the Polish hospital. These devices will enable non-invasive, high-level research. Additionally, training will be provided for medical personnel in both countries, with around 60 people in total (30 in Poland and 30 in Ukraine) trained in the diagnosis and treatment of oncological diseases using the new equipment.
Promotional and informational activities will also be carried out, including an opening conference in Białystok and a closing conference planned for Lviv.

The project will reduce treatment times, speed up cancer diagnosis, increase the number of patients using innovative services, and expand access to screening tests. This will ultimately improve the health of residents in both regions.
