SAFETYIn the cross-border area, a significant issue is the inadequate protection of the area and the lack of modern equipment – including firefighting facilities, which requires improvement. This SAFETY project will increase environmental safety for residents in the cross-border area by enabling faster and more efficient rescue operations.
The main activities include creating 2 Modular Security Centres in Ukraine (Brody, Kolochava) and the purchase of firefighting equipment for 5 fire departments of the Siedlce Commune (i.e. radio telephones, training dummies, hydraulic tool sets, power generators, thermal imaging camera, special clothing and boots, submersible pump, detectors). Additionally, 3 rescue and firefighting trucks will be provided in Poland (Mazowieckie Voivodeship). As a result of this project, 9 rescue units on both sides of the border will be equipped with modern equipment for saving the environment and human property. These activities are accompanied by trainings for emergency services and initiatives raising awareness among residents. This includes promotional and information activities such as study visits, first aid workshops, training for volunteer firefighters, open lessons for children, competitions, conference and picnics.
The Polish-Ukrainian partnership in this area will facilitate future operations over a larger area, ensuring that units responsible for security on both sides of the border have appropriate and modern equipment. This will have a positive impact on timely manner response and actions during natural disasters or threats to the environment, people and their property. Thanks to the project, we will all be safer.
