Clean water is essential for life. However, in some areas of Poland and Ukraine, untreated municipal wastewater is still being discharged into watercourses, posing a significant threat to both the environment and local communities. Access to proper sewage systems remains insufficient, particularly in rural and mountainous regions. With EU funding, we are working to address this issue in the Programme area.

The key activities of the project include the construction of sanitary sewerage along with the necessary connections, infrastructure, and technical facilities. In the Olszanica Commune (PL), the works will cover a total length of approximately 6.5 km, connecting more than 60 households (about 250 residents) and 2 public facilities to the sewage network. In Velykyi Bereznyi (UA), the investment involves the construction of about 5.6 km of sewerage and the installation of three sewage pumping stations. As a result, around 200 households (approximately 1,000 people) and seven multi-storey buildings (housing around 360 people) will be connected to the network. Additionally, two social and cultural facilities will also be linked to the system.
The construction work will be accompanied by a promotional and educational campaign, including a film and school meetings, aimed at raising public awareness about environmental protection.

The benefits of this project will be felt on both sides of the border. Pollution levels in the San and Uzh rivers, as well as their local tributaries, will be significantly reduced. The environmental quality of the surrounding protected areas will improve, benefiting both residents and tourists.
